Dear visitor,

The tsunami on December 26, 2004 in Asia has made numerous victims. It caused a disaster has left no-one untouched an spurred many people into action. After first needs for food, shelter and medical care have been supplied, the emotional impact for everyone who has been exposed becomes a matter of attention.
Needs for psychological help can emerge in the weeks directly after the disaster, but also months and years later, when lots of people have already forgotten the disaster.

WHAT DOES THIS SITE OFFER VICTIMS OF THE TSUNAMI DISASTER:

1. WEB SURVEY: this offers you a way of getting to grips with your feelings through a series of scientifically validated questionnaires.  The web survey can provide feedback on a group level base to those who have filled this in.
2. FORUM: this is an online discussion platform through which you can share your experiences of the disaster with other victims.
3. eCONSULTATION: participants can, in a secured way, ask questions to psychiatrists/psychologists and receive an answer within 24 hours. eConsultation is not meant as therapy.
4. FAMILY LINKING: links to the application for victims and those searching in a multilingual way, and shares sources of information of several aid agencies, like the International Red Cross.
5. PARTICIPATION IN A SCIENTIFIC FOLLOW-UP STUDY: it is very important to get a good picture of the emotional consequences of the disaster. (This study is currently accessible for victims located in the Netherlands)

For the international use and support, we are seeking local groups in different countries.
Every TISEI group can modify this website according to their own needs. Please contact us for details on your assistance.
